ARTISTRY NOTES
OILS -dabbling in the messy paint
THE GOAL:: In relating what I do there are a few things that are quite obvious when looking at my web site. First is my liberal use of vibrant colors. I reach for shapes and colors that stimulate the eyes and draw you in. In most instances the areas are subtle and some others they jump off the screen. The key is to hold interest and inspire the viewer to continue to stay on the site.

FINDING SERENITY  : :

More information can be found on MY BLOG plus a few selections of art you haven't seen here. Yo also can post comments on my blog about what you see and feel.

UNCOVERING STYLE  : :  As we move our way through 2008 life becomes more and more mixed up with all cultures and all classes coming together to form a new eclectic style of life. Even the decay of the past plays a large role in what we see and perceive as normal routine.

It is fascinating at the genuine creativity in the world today to present visions of our world as it is perceived.

DOING WHAT IS NECESSARY  : :  My visions are only as good as the person perceiving them.

If you are bored or uninspired, my visions will be perceived as less than desirable.

If I have attracted your eye and your mind, then my visions are accomplishing their goals.

It is up to you, the visitor to determine how I have inspired you and either kept or discouraged your visit.

I believe the masters should have no fear of me except in an amusing way. My entry into the fine arts is fun and adventurous. I may have to open my own art gallery for these pieces to be seen. Then again, I rarely part with an oil painting I complete. Getting attached to your art is not very productive nor is it profitable. but the the guy who painted happy little clouds did very well painting happy little clouds. Honestly I do it for fun mostly with no delusions of grandeur ever..

wildwood park

Above is a scene from Wildwood Park in Harrisburg Pennsylvania, The park is a preserve now with a 3 mile walking path around the reservoir. Many years ago there was a canal here that paralleled the Susquehanna River and ran up to Dauphin, a few miles up the river from Harrisburg. The canal ran through what is Wildwood Park now and the scene above is what is left of the canal, a simple bog. If you walk the path around the park, the beauty of the entire area is apparent and without the interstate highways and trucking terminals that border the park you might believe you are out in the wild. But alas the sound of industry fills your ears as you wander through this beautiful area. I caught the scene above during the fall season a few years ago. There is something about fall that just makes for the most beautiful pictures.

Some of my other works from earlier years: Pass your curser over the thumbnail to see a larger version of the painting.
